I’d like to take a moment to welcome Lambert Varias as the latest member of Technabob’s crack writing team (by that, I mean sharp, intelligent authors, not writers on crack). Lambert will be a regular contributing author on Technabob, so keep your eyes peeled for his latest posts…
sega hitokara karaoke disco ball: just add off-key vocals

You’ve gotta hand it to the Japanese. They managed to take the strains of howling, tone deaf, drunken business executives and turn them into a multi-billion dollar yen industry. Now you can bring the Karaoke experience to your living room, complete with a cheezy disco light show. (Minus the drunk business executives)…

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that console clone maker Yobo was working on a new system that could play games not only from the Nintendo NES and SNES, but also from the rival SEGA Genesis system.

Is that a Wii-mote in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? That’s the question your friends will be asking when you pop these mini Wii controller keychains into your pants.
These weensy Wii-motes (just 2.25″ tall) don’t just look cool. They each project a cartoon image from Mario Kart on your when you jam on the “1″ button…

mirror’s edge gets flattened into 2-d
November 20, 2008 by technabob · Leave a Comment
It looks like the new hit 3-D action platform video game Mirror’s Edge has just gotten a makeover as a 2-D Flash mini-game you can play right in you web browser.
The guys over at Borne Games have created this flattened version of the game (in partnership with EA), and it’s kind of reminiscent of classic Prince of Persia type of game when squished into just 2 dimensions…
make your own monster brings your horrible drawings to life

Toy store FAO Schwarz has a special service whose results could either be really cool or really abysmal. Although the store’s name sounds like it should be a division of the German army, the name of their service is straight to the point: Make-My-Own-Monster.
As you might have deduced from the image above, the Make-My-Own-Monster service is so simple it’s magical. Or diabolical…

Looking for something to do with all those Starbucks coffee cups you collect every morning? Why not turn them into some great geek art like this guy did.
Photographer Dan Winters (from WIRED) saw all those cups, stirrers and other paper miscellany and was inspired to turn them into an awesome TIE Fighter model. Darth Vader would be proud…
